Trial Delayed 3rd Time - Charges increased despite the State still having no evidence

This is a letter sent to Aram Hamparian of ANCA and Brian Ardouny of AAA. If you remember, these organizations, that claim to represent the American Armenians, endorsed the violent crackdown of the demonstrators on March 1. Since then, they have failed to condemn the Armenian government for keeping dozens of political prisoners effectively endorsing this crime against the Armenian citizens as well. --nazarian

Trial Delayed 3rd Time - Charges increased despite the State still having no evidence

The press was in attendance as well as a few dozen relatives and friends. Mr. Manukyan appeared heartened by having so many supporters in the audience who were standing and cheering for him.

Unfortunately the prosecutor sought an adjournment in order to raise the charges pending against Mr. Manukyan.

He was originally charged during the investigation phase with "organizing public events in violation of the law" (punishable by up to 2 months of imprisonment) and "violence against authorities, endangering their life or health" (punishable by 5 to 10 years imprisonment) (a high felony).

Before the trial the felony charge were downgraded to "simple violence against authorities" (punishable by up to 5 years in jail). Even under this charge there have been no witnesses or testimony against him, despite bribes, threats and beatings.

Today, at the opening of his trial, the prosecutor sought an adjournment to upgrade the charges back to the more serious felony, punishable by 5 to 10 years imprisonment. At the prosecutor's request the court adjourned the case for four weeks. It will now be transferred to the court that handles the higher felonies.

Where is the Diaspora as another group of Armenians are killed off? Mr. Manukyan gave his whole life to his country: played by the rules, never raised his voice or took a dime, sacrificed everything instead of bowing down to corruption or apathy and is now facing death in prison.

Where are the Armenian voices for that? Ask them:

Ashot Manukyan was charged for saving the life of a fellow.
He was arrested when he made a phone call to emergency services to save his friend on March the 1st. Instead of medics the ambulance car was full of special forces who arrested both of them.
I think the 'upgrade' of the sentence is due to blackmail where people where forced to give wrong statments. Ironically one of them was the person whose life he save in the morning of March 1st.
One thing for sure he will not spend much time in jail. Instead his cell will be occupied by the serpents of justice. The time will come, and it will come soon.

Dont confuse the Diaspora with the ANC and the AAA, the ANC is the political toy of the ARF and the AAA is the political toy of hovnanian/totah/krikorian...the AAA office in LA was recently closed...thats how much support they have.
