Running low on gas.

The Armenian government fined Armentel, the land line and internet access monopoly in the country, today. The fine was $1 million and the alleged misdeed was a violation of anti-trust regulations with their policies towards the ISP-s in the country.

One million dollars is an eye popping amount in Armenia. It looks like there is a need to fill the coffers. It costs a lot of money to persecute the opposition.

This is great news. It is good to see continued clean up of abuse of the system.

I hope the government fines other perpetrators of corporate abuse too.

can government fine themselves?

It's a good question. I highly doubt that the different arms of the government can fine each other. But I cannot be sure without reading the appropriate law in Armenia and looking for case history.
