Degradation.

Sometimes I truly don't know where the Armenian nation is going. Here is the latest fight involving the Armenian Apostolic Church with the Greek Orthodox Church in Jerusalem. I can't say much about the Greek side but the Armenian side resemble the youth that usually litter the street corners of neighborhoods like Yerrord Mas in any town where there is a Yerrord Mas. What are they doing in the ranks of the church I don't know. Why are they in Jerusalem is even a bigger puzzle for me.

By the way, pay attention to the thuggery at 1:40 with a sucker punch on the Greek priest.

before labeling it would be good to learn the history of this conflict.

hope one day this self-nation-hating attitude will disappear ...

i have a feeling that these fights are tourist attraction of sorts.... Do not think it has anything to do with national identification. I do not know the history of the conflict and do not really care how servants of god try to please him, but anonymous is right. It is time to learn that word "armenian" is not an adjective, it does not mean good or bad, it just means that Armenians not always "the first", "the best", "the smartest", "the oldest", etc, but as any other nation on the Earth have their worst, meanest, stupidest as well as majority of just normal, ordinary people.

What's the difference between them and football huligans? I guess not much.
I would title it:
"Armenian neighborhood yobs (koochi tgha) fight Greek religious fanatics".

Since you want the background, here's a story from Palm Sunday, when they did the same thing, but used palm fronds to beat the police with who were trying to stop the fight:

http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/
2008/04/20/africa/ME-GEN-Israel-
Clergy-Fight.php
[...]
The fight is part of a growing rivalry over religious rights at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, built over the site where tradition says Jesus was buried and resurrected. It erupted when Armenian clergy kicked out a Greek priest from their midst, pushed him to the ground and kicked him, according to witnesses.
[...]
The Holy Sepulcher is shared by several Christian denominations according to a centuries-old arrangement known as the "status quo."

Each denomination jealously guards its share of the basilica, and fights over rights of worship at the church have intensified in recent years, particularly between the Armenians and Greeks.
[...]
Last year, pre-Christmas cleaning in the Church of the Nativity turned ugly when robed Greek Orthodox and Armenian priests went at each other with brooms and stones. The Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem — built over Jesus' traditional birth grotto — also falls under the status quo arrangement.

The status quo divides the Holy Sepulcher among the Armenians, Roman Catholics and the Greek Orthodox who have the largest share. The Coptic, Ethiopian Orthodox and Syrian Orthodox churches also have duties to maintain specific areas.

Looks like the dispute is going to get worse. It's not nice to say this but I predict the rivalry between the Greek and Armenian clergy to provide juicy stories in the future.

BBC has a short primer on the dispute between the feuding parties. Here is an excerpt:

"...Disputes are not uncommon, particularly over who has the authority to carry out repairs.

For example, a wooden ladder has remained on a ledge just above the main entrance since the 19th Century - because no-one can agree who has the right to take it down..."

It's quite funny for an outsider. I guess that's what you get when you have a bunch of ideologist males without female companionship...

to anonymous. I guess I came down hard on the Armenian side. As an Armenian, I always want us to be better than the rest. A sucker punch doesn't make us better than the rest.

But I failed to account for the situation on the ground and the thousand plus year history of the feud.

The postive side is that now world knows that Armenians are Christians :)

Thanks nazarian that the my first message caught
A thorough history exist on this conflict and I can't find the details, but in short it is

1. It happened once when Armenians

It erupted when Armenian clergy kicked out a Greek priest from their midst, pushed him to the ground and kicked him, according to witnesses."

First time I watched it I was surprised that I didnt catch any swearing, usually punches are spiced up by referrals to mothers and parents. 2nd and 3rd time I watch it I could distinctively hear some swearing.
There is no excuse whatsoever for any person and especially for a priest to act like this. You cant just go and through punches around especially the thug in 1.40 .
The least they need to be banned from entering a church for life time. It is shameful.

anyone who dares to raise his hand against the "armenian sargavak" in church will ge that punch, alright? If late Archbishop Yeghishe Derderian was alive, he would have kicked a.s our of the greeks, whatever happens, don't forget that those are our fanatic, orthodox, armenian self-sacrificing people who defend our national rights to the church and christianity
