I know this could be construed as blasphemy in some circles...but he used to remind me of Vazgen sometimes, just with the way that he spoke, the conviction, the fire (I'm not equalizing them, I'm aware of their respective careers...)
I don't think that fire is there anymore. I think they managed to break him, not so much physically, but mentally, and it's such a sad sight to see.
The man attended rallies and made speeches starting from the first day after release from an unfounded imprisonment, and makes bold statements at each one...
Can you please clarify how there is NO fire??
I think you misunderstood; I didn't mean it as a knock on him and I certainly don't think that a year and a half in "KGB's padval" is going to do him in. It's clearly going to take more than that.
Just watch the speech he got arrested for and watch him now and you'll see the difference. As I said, the last time someone talked with such conviction in Armenia was Vazgen circa '92 (in my humble, and admittedly extremely subjective opinion) and it's just not the same now.

I think it is because he is tired. He didn’t have a rest for at least the past 1.5 years. He needs to relax. the mental tiredness is worse then the physical one.
Ahhh, you're right, I think I misunderstood... Though my guess (and hope) is it is that whatever may have changed is due to fatigue (as Haik says) and not having been broken, as you say...
