How is Sargis Hatspanian?

If you remember, some time ago Sargis Hatspanian, a hero of the Artsakh War, was imprisoned for his interview to press. The reason for the imprisonment was his claim that Serj Sargsian's life was in danger and some dark forces were planning his assassination. It is quite a bizarre reason to imprison someone but this is Armenia we are talking about. (with the same logic, one would imprison the mouthpiece of the ruling HHK party Galust Sahakian for treason when he suggested Armenia to join the islamic league of nations).

Last I heard, Mr. Hatspanian was on hunger strike and was still in prison. Have there been any news reports about his health lately?

Sarkis Hatspanian was persuaded to end his hunger strike around the New Year, and was reported to be doing better shortly thereafter.

Yes it may be bizarre the level of punishment/he could get 10000 drams penalty, or some days of public work/, but what Hatspanian did is indeed a crime.
Your comparison doesn't hold a ground. Better compare it to the telephone call with a fake message about a bomb in the school.

Dear Anonymous -
On what grounds/for what reason do you think the information he gave is false? What information do you have?

I don't think that one should be punished for expressing his or her opinion. After all, there such a thing as freedom of speech. It is even in the Armenian Constitution for what it's worth nowadays.

to tzitsernak2:

Part 1./
The state receives information on ongoing assassination on president, spends taxpayers money for investigation, more security, change of the President's agenda, etc. Later the State finds that the information was planned fake. This is a crime and needs to be punished.

Part 2./
The State receives very unreliable information about assassinating The President. The State does nothing, does no investigation, spends no additional taxpayers money, but holds the mis-informer in charge assuming part 1 consequences. /And this is what happened, and it is wrong, the punishment had to be symbolic/

Part3. And your question.
a) Please reread Hatspanyan's interview. None can take it seriously /especially Oskanian ordering assassination of SS :)))) /
b) you ask me to disprove an announcement which was not ever proved, which didn't bring any facts and arguments. Hope you know a saying "prove that you are not donkey"

regards,

If you truly believe in this bs, than try doing the following in the USA. Call to one journalist and say that you have knowledge about upcoming assassination of The President organized by Al Qaeda.

Anonymous, believe me, I will not be arrested and I will not be put in jail. The NSA will interview me to assess the credibility of the information.

But that's beside the point.

Come to think of it, it is absurd to compare the US with Armenia. There was a time when it was conceivable but the more time passes, the more absurd that idea becomes.

Comparing with Zimbabwe, Uzbekistan or maybe Somalia is more realistic.

If you change the word "president" with "presidential candidate", you have exactly described Arthur Bagdasaryan's fake claim that Sargsyan was trying to assassinate him. So, let's lock Arthur up, instead of paying to send him to a beach resort in Dubai!

Baghdasarian Briefs Police On ‘Death Threats’

Opposition presidential candidate Artur Baghdasarian met an Armenian police general on Thursday to discuss election-related murder threats which he claims to have received late last week.

Baghdasarian has so far not publicized details of the alleged threats, indicating only that they emanated from the authorities. Although Prime Minister Serzh Sarkisian dismissed the claims as a “pre-election trick” earlier this week, law-enforcement authorities expressed their readiness to investigate them. The Office of the Prosecutor-General formally summoned the leader of the opposition Orinats Yerkir Party for questioning on Tuesday after a similar invitation extended by the Armenian police.

According to Baghdasarian’s campaign manager, Heghine Bisharian, the candidate received Major-General Hayk Militonian, head of the criminal investigations directorate of the Police Service, in the Orinats Yerkir headquarters in Yerevan. “Artur Baghdasarian presented some information about and details of death threats addressed to him,” she told RFE/RL without elaborating.

Bisharian said the two men also discussed “the need for a state protection of Artur Baghdasarian.”

The former parliament speaker told RFE/RL on Wednesday that another law-enforcement agency, the National Security Service (NSS), offered to provide him with bodyguards and that he accepted the offer.

Baghdasarian claimed to have been threatened with death amid growing speculation that he might drop out of the presidential race in favor of another opposition candidate, former President Levon Ter-Petrosian. Baghdasarian has not ruled out such possibility, saying that he is “actively” negotiating with Ter-Petrosian.

“Negotiations continue,” he told RFE/RL as he campaigned in the central town of Aparan earlier on Thursday.

Lock Arthur up and throw away the key--right, Anonymous??

Thanks for the quotations of what "the state" said. It has said a lot of things which are completely unfounded, and outright lies. I was asking more if you had a credible source that what Hatspanyan had said was unfounded.

Did I say that it's ok that Hatspanian is locked up?

This is very typical to neo-bolshevik thinkers. They are against wrongdoings. But they are for it when wrongdoings are done to the political enemies.

My opinion is clear, both A.B., Hatspanian, or whoever who gives clearly fake information of similar type should be fined by a symbolic amount.

My dear anonymous, this is the country you live in: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloud_cuckoo_land

Absolutely clear that Baghdasaryan filed a false police report and for that crime he was rewarded with a very high position in the government. As for Hatspanian, as Tzitzternak points out, his accusations have not been proven false or even investigated--and by the way, how often is Sargsyan seen in Armenia in public??

Any enforcement of laws in Armenia is selective and it is always against people who don't agree with the corrupt regime. I'd like to see fair enforcement as well, but that's not what we have

///My dear anonymous, this is the country you live in: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloud_cuckoo_land///

Have no relevance to this discussion. Dear Ani, probably you are reading a book or article about it, and decided to show your level of enlightenment?

//Absolutely clear that Baghdasaryan filed a false police report and for that crime he was rewarded with a very high position in the government.///

You are beating a dead horse. But Baghdasaryan was rewarded for another matter. Is this your level of political analysis?

/// As for Hatspanian, as Tzitzternak points out, his accusations have not been proven false or even investigated////

Well, there were accusations by some khelagars that LTP is a Satan. Such accusations haven't yet been disproved. Conclusions are yours ...

///--and by the way, how often is Sargsyan seen in Armenia in public??//

The behavior is the same as with all previous presidents. No change registered after H's false accusations.

///Any enforcement of laws in Armenia is selective and it is always against people who don't agree with the corrupt regime.///

Please, don't generalize and start neo-bolshevik bs about speaking in the name of people. Unfortunately the majority of Armenia's population supports corrupt regime.

/// I'd like to see fair enforcement as well, but that's not what we have///

True, but instead saying what is is, you and many other agitprops prefer presenting a hallucinatory Armenia. Have you ever seen a doctor exaggerating patient's diagnosis? And what motivates the doctor to do it?

Ani said...

Dear anonymous cuckoo, that you see no relevance lies in the poverty of your imagination, not my analogy. Let's face it, you are a bore. You said only one interesting thing:

//But Baghdasaryan was rewarded for another matter.//

Pray tell??

Ani, now, when no argument was left on your side, you turn into personal attacks and offense. better educate yourself, I can imagine what stereotyped image of mine was visualized in your hallucinatory mind. wish you maturity

1) You didn't answer my question.
2) The arguments are not exhausted, but you are simply a waste of time.
3) I did not engage in personal attacks; after all, you are "no one," anonymous.

nazarian when was it ever possible to compare armenia with the US?

personally i think this is as good as it has ever been, for good or for bad.

it is the amnesiacs or the ltp-minions who try to paint it as regress, but the reality is that it is a bad comparison now, but worse 5 10 and esp 15 yrs ago. i won't even go into the soviet years...

In the early 90-s when the state owned land was privatized and the Armenian citizens were landowners, when the market was allowed to become free with entrepreneurs (as well as scam artists) were free to do whatever they wanted, when the citizens were allowed to go anywhere, and anyone was allowed to come to the country. It was time when the press was becoming free, the lawlessness of the late Soviet period had been eradicated, the army was starting to take shape and the different parties were free to express their views.

Then it started going down the drain with the ban on ARF and affiliated media. From then on it has been a downward spiral.

Anonymous said...

That tiny window you refer to was closed very fast by the charlatan HHSh, Nazarian.

They closed media, prevented Diasporan investment in Armenia, exported people instead of products, etc.

Forget even the silly banning of the ARF, by then the damage had been done: Armenia was off limits to everyone except the ruling thugs. Welcome oligarch culture, bribe-fest and a sharp have vs have-not feudalism that has been perpetuated, though attenuated. Vano and his cronies had an iron lock that makes today's situation feel like paradise comparatively.

Anonymous said...

From 1990-1994, it was as good as it had ever been in Armenia, cold and dark years and all. And by the way, both our second and third presidents were "HHSh charlatans" and "Vano's cronies" not that long ago. How quickly we forget...

"prevented the Diasporan investment in Armenia"
That's a good one; pray tell what good allowing "diasporan investment" has done for the majority of the population?

Anonymous said...

yes, I guess I agree with me (myself, and I)...who needs investment?

FDI is overrated, I'd rather export people to Moscow and LA.

Still using the laptop bestowed upon you by Serzhik for your patriotic "services"? Do they pass you around?

"[You'd] rather export people to LA and Moscow," would you? Before you assume the language of your midget-Pashas and start talking about people as if they were cows, why don't you start by "exporting" yourself to Dubai first: There are bound to Sheikhs there who put experience before hygiene, and I'm sure they'd be happy to buy you a new pair of golden knee-pads.
