Why go through the trouble?

© REUTERS/Morteza Nikoubazl

This is a photo of some soldiers on parade in Iran. One thing I cannot understand is why wear such elaborate ghilly suits if you are armed with AK-47 rifles with only metal sights. Seems like a waste of perfectly good camouflage.

Maybe they have more sinister plans...

Should be extremely uncomfortable so that after an hour pretending to be a totally useless shrub a soldier might put his hands up and give in/up.
Maybe was a bright idea of some high ranking office genius.

Dude, those aren't ghilly suits, those are man-chadors.

Maybe they don't want to disclose the make of Iranian army sniper rifles (?).
Anyway, I guess it is strange to walk in a parade with a standard small arms like AKM with such an elaborate camouflage gear.

It's for parade only. The Iranian snipers use HS .50 as their main weapon.
