We can always count on Nazarian for news from the Animal Kingdom!
In case you didn't know, Russia has its own version: @MarquardtA: Russian Punxsutawney Phil doesn't even bother to emerge, zoo tries to bribe him...of course. http://bit.ly/drFL9b
As for the Armenian version, I guess we'd need to check in with the private zoos, but they're hard to locate, apparently...
:) I like the Russian story. Much more interesting than the US story (it's got drama and everything).
As for private zoos in Armenia, they specialize in carnivores and would probably use Phil's compatriots as food.
Russians like to copy anything and everything and then add the Russian touch.
For Armenian version ask the parliament, you can find all sorts of animals there.
Haik, that's how you progress. You take something and improvise to make it your own. If you stay on the sidelines of the fads, traditions and such and look down at everyone else, very quickly you will become a cultural backwater.
BTW, this groundhog Day is a German tradition brought over by the German immigrants. Now it is an American tradition, too.
