In a typical manner of Armenian nepotism, the Ombudsman (of human rights defense attached to Serj Sargsian) nominated two of his friends to the Central Electoral Commission. These two are young lawyers and I am assuming are successful in their careers.

Not being losers, they do not need to be at the economic trough of the regime where you are rewarded for, in this case, falsification of election results. Good for them. There is no need for them to be tainted for the rest of their lives.

Jon Huntsman.

Many of us will remember Jon Huntsman Sr.'s charitable work and his efforts to boost industry in Armenia after the Spitak Earthquake and then during the Karabakh War.

Today his son, Jon Huntsman, announced that he will be seeking the Republican nomination for 2012. Huntsman has just started but now that I have read his background, I like him.

That means that he stands no chance in the GOP primaries.

What happens in central Yerevan when a handful of people start protesting?

Within minutes, the print media arrives and takes interviews. The broadcast media are controlled by the government so there are no demonstrations and grievances in the country as far as they are concerned.

Wait for a few more minutes and the first ment arrives. Within minutes of that, a group of them congregates. If you are not from HAK, they leave you alone.
