Bush was pretty good at avoiding the shoes thrown at him yesterday by an Iraqi journalist. My guess is that Laura has thrown stuff at him before so he is well trained.
I wonder what the Iraqis will do to the journalist. Bush, as an American, was OK with it. Iraqis are not that enlightened in matters of freedom of expression so they may see it as an insult to the state with all the consequences.

I guess when you're always in the doghouse you learn a few tricks. The cheerleader training probably helped, too.
ReplyDeleteHere's what's happened to the journalist so far, according to the NYTimes:
--Mr. Maliki’s security agents jumped on the man, wrestled him to the floor and hustled him out of the room. They kicked him and beat him until “he was crying like a woman,” said Mohammed Taher, a reporter for Afaq, a television station owned by the Dawa Party, which is led by Mr. Maliki. Mr. Zaidi was then detained on unspecified charges.
Sorry, should have added the next NYTimes paragraph:
ReplyDelete--Other Iraqi journalists in the front row apologized to Mr. Bush, who was uninjured and tried to brush off the incident by making a joke. “All I can report is it is a size 10,” he said, continuing to take questions and noting the apologies. He also called the incident a sign of democracy, saying, “That’s what people do in a free society, draw attention to themselves,” as the man’s screaming could be heard outside.
Bush dodged pretty well. Was he chewing a gum?
ReplyDeleteI think we are going to miss him, especially his joker face. He never manage to look serious, there is always that thing in his face as if whatever he tells is a joke.
Haik, during the Bush administration, one important criterion for a good candidate was whether s/he could pronounce Nuclear correctly. I think tere were a couple of them who pronounced it as Nucular but they didn't last long in the race... Even Palin pronounces it correctly.
ReplyDeleteBush might have been a good buddy to have but I'm certainly not going to miss him as our president.
nothing in "politics" is by accident and/or natural, everything is staged, including the show throwing incident, in video it can be clearly seen that BUSH anticipated that shoe coming at him. it was too obvious for BUSH to be abel to "DUCK" out of the way for the 1st shoe. everything in 'american' politics is staged....everything. even if its made to look as though it wasn't staged, its still staged.
ReplyDeleteRight, just ask James Brady.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous, every day you prove the adage: You can take the Diasporan out of the Soviet Union, but you can't take the Soviet Union out of the Diasporan.
