The speed of progress in Armenia is breathtaking. We can be proud that we are ahead of Libia, Venezuela, Ethiopia and Zimbabwe. The degree of competitive markets is worrysome. We are only ahead of Chad and East Timor. Looks like we still have a lot of work to do to catch up with countries like Zimbabwe and North Korea.
The progress we have seen during the last 15 years has not been enough. Fortunately, there is only one way to go in these rankings: UP (since we are at the bottom of nearly every metric in the world).

Another agitprop crap. Those who are interested can look at full data and see how the worst indexes are chosen and selectively presented here.

Well, we are not that good, but saying we are in shit???
btw, the best index which Armenia rendered is "Number of days required to resolve a dispute" we are 13th!
And btw, "Burden of government regulation" index ranks us 71 out of 134 countries.
Anyway, the global current picture is not good for Armenia, but the plans are great. Within two years we will be at a very higher rank, hope to see such jump reported in this blog soon.

ReplyDeleteEnough this lunacy. Cut the crap.
What great plans? Build a port in Gyumri, make Dilijan a regional financial center and Jermuk the medical one, build Iran-Georgia railroad ( we saw what happened to the gas pipeline), build an oil refinery on Iran Armenia boarder, free trade zone, build a TeleTubby World and so on and so on? Maybe only the last one is feasible.
We heard the stories of Armenicum as the AID cure, an IT global center ( currently less than 5% have access to Internet), tourist center (no public toilets even in downtown Yerevan).
Ideas that would cast shadow over Ostap Bender and his Horns and Hoofs initiative. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ostap_Bender
Waiting what would you say in two years.
no Haik, there are concrete contracts and commitments. If you are interested in Armenia and Armenian IT sector you can easily find this projects.
ReplyDeleteDon't waste your time with Haik and these other self-hating Armenians who refuse to see anything good in Armenia (other than selective amnesia from the LTP days of hell).
ReplyDeleteThey either lost a king-of-the-hill game as their oligarchs got bumped from their monopolies by the current ones, or they have to rationalize their flight from Armenia by convincing themselves that "nothing good can ever come from that former homeland of mine."
