A few years ago President Kocharyan accused the Yerevan mayor of incompetence when he said 'you are sitting on so much money and yet you are asking the government for it'. That's when all the legal and illegal cafe construction started and the parks in Yerevan were decimated.

In a typical fashion for the authorities, they have started decimating the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial area. While they have announced that the recognition of the genocide is one of their utmost priorities, the authorities have allowed the construction of restaurants and a mini-golf course near the Memorial.

When a poet described the President as an 'անաղուհաց քրդի շուն' he was put in jail. But he might have been right.
