Monkey see, Monkey do.
I hope some of my Armenian readers have had the opportunity to find time to look above the recent charade of elections in Armenia. This year's NATO summit is being held in Chicago and countries that are members or are affiliated with NATO have gathered to discuss the current issues.
Armenia has had a close relationship with NATO and it is imperative to continue the close ties in the future. One would expect that the bench warmer for the president of Armenia, Serj Sargsian, be there as well.
Unfortunately, he is not, and he has sited "passages of concern" in a draft declaration as a reason for skipping it. I am a small town blogger but reason tells me that if there are "passages of concern" in a declaration, you do not stick your head in the sand but actively try to modify those passages in your favor. So, he gets an "F" on this but his refusal to take part still remains puzzling.
That is, until you remember that Putin declined to take part in the summit and he announced about it last week.
Serj Sargsian should have the intellectual honesty to admit that he got orders from Putin and that's why he is not taking part in the summit as well.
